To a T - What is precision land preparation?

Is ‘precision agriculture’ just a new buzz word in the farming world, or is it the future of what we know in the land preparation, farming and forestry industries?

Is this the next big thing?

At UMOBA we believe precision agriculture, and in particular precision land preparation is indeed the future of how the foundations of your crops should be laid. The process is defined as a farming management concept based on precise measurement, examination and keen response to inter and intra-field variability in your crops, ensuring optimum growth and feedback reports detailing the farmers key performance improvement areas. It is for these reasons that precision agriculture is truly the way of the future and is a technological advancement that we at UMOBA welcome with open arms.

The goods that get it done

The technological requirements for successfully undertaking precision land preparation and other precision agricultural activities, are highly advanced, and include the use of drones, GPS tracking and sensors to determine crop health, underperforming areas within a crop and key insights into growth environment to ensure an unprecedented yield that can be monitored and maximised throughout the growth cycle.

Why should you care?

With the rise in need for environmentally conscious agricultural activities, precision farming and most importantly the foundations of this, precision land preparation, is at the forefront of ensuring a more environmentally responsible approach to grain, sugar and fruit farming. This is something we believe in thoroughly at UMOBA, with the provision of specialised mechanical green sugar cane harvesting, planting and crop spraying as part of our services. With the intention of providing a holistic service to the farms we cater to, we have made the addition of precision land preparation services to our offering, enabling us to be involved in the entire crop cycle, from preparation, planting to harvesting.

The process

The precision land preparation process consists of a number of steps guided by cutting edge technology employed by UMOBA. In a nutshell, the existing crop needs to be killed and destroyed. Once this has been done, only the area intended for planting is prepared ‘To a T!’. We would recommend getting in contact with us for accurate advice on this process specific to your needs.
