Our next steps for 2020

Next Steps

With this year’s harvest season fast approaching, UMOBA’s next steps for 2020 are well underway to ensure that this new decade is one for the books. Our business is constantly in the process of innovating itself, whether through the addition of cutting edge agricultural technologies or the employment of highly qualified experts to steer our operation in the right direction.

We are growing our fleet

Our fleet of approximately 100 machines and vehicles is a cornerstone of our operation. In 2020 we plan to make additions to our existing fleet, while updating machines that have served their useful life at UMOBA. Our standing as the official Dezzi equipment dealership in Eswatini & Mozambique ensures a healthy supply of the finest Africa tough machinery used in our operation, with these being the ideal machines to tackle the dynamic landscapes that exist in these two prosperous countries.

Embracing technology

At UMOBA we are huge fans of technology as we have seen that embracing it leads to greater efficiencies, maximum outputs and sustainable growth in the industries. Agriculture is attributed with being the first industry created by civilisation, and is the basis of a steady economy and food supply. The fusion of agriculture, societies oldest sector with technology, societies newest, is an idea we welcome, as we have seen first-hand how productivity has increased. In the next decade we plan to incorporate drones, GPS monitoring, as well as other initiatives to realise the benefit of precision agriculture practices.

Our latest ventures

In 2020 we plan to branch out into wood chipping. When clearing bush to make way for sugar cane or alternate crops, the excess bush is traditionally burnt, providing little to no benefit, only a negative impact on the environment. With turning this into woodchips, we can provide a readily available fuel source for use in boilers, as an alternative to coal. This not only preserves natural fossil fuels, but also taps into an energy source that would have been burnt to no use. Wood chips can be used not only as a fuel source but for mulch, as a composting material and to control soil erosion.

We look forward to what 2020 has in store for UMOBA and Eswatini. We are gearing up for a fruitful harvest season, and look forward to significant yields and an improvement on last year’s results. Get in contact with us if you have any queries on mechanical sugar cane harvesting, whole stick loading and haulage, precision land preparation, plant hire and crop spraying – our team would be more than happy to assist in seeing your 2020 goals come to fruition.
